Summer Enrichment Camps

At Spring Forward, we believe that summer is a time to grow, learn, explore, and have fun. With this in mind, we developed literacy and STEM-focused summer enrichment camps that help combat the academic “summer slide” experienced by many kids over the summer months. Over our six-week program, kids are engaged in a variety of activities through our various program partners. We take weekly field trips to places like Nahant Marsh, Figge Art Museum, Putnam Museum, and WQPT. In addition to our fun and engaging lessons, campers work hard on at least two hours of focused literacy work every week, with a program goal of maintaining or gaining reading levels over the summer.

Our 2018 summer enrichment camps hosted 388 students from the Rock Island-Milan School District. Camps were held at five elementary schools and covered six weeks of our students’ eight-week summer break. Camps were designed to maximize fun and learning to help campers avoid the “summer slide” that occurs while they are out of school.
